MUSCULOSKELETAL CARE · INFORMED CHOICES
Whole-person musculoskeletal care
Make space for the rest of the picture.
Start with your priorities.
Your daily work, activities, sleep and responsibilities can be useful topics to bring to a care conversation. Describe what matters to you without needing to diagnose yourself.
Ask about the practical details.
Ask how the practitioner communicates with other members of your healthcare team, with your permission. Share concerns about a proposed approach openly.
Keep the decision informed.
Whole-person care does not mean one method explains every symptom. New or changing concerns deserve appropriate clinical assessment.
Take these questions with you.
- What would a suitable assessment involve?
- What benefits, risks and alternatives should I understand?
- What will the appointments and follow-up cost?
- How will we review the plan and decide next steps?
